Psalm 1:1-3Psalm 1:1-3 “
Blessed is the man who has not walked in the
counsel of the ungodly, and has not stood in the way of sinners,
and has not sat in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is only
in the Law of The Lord; and in His Law he meditates day and
night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water
that brings forth its fruit in its seasons, and its leaf shall not
wither, and all which he does shall be blessed.”
Who is the one who is like a tree planted by the rivers?
It is the one who delights himself in the Law of the Lord.
To delight is to rejoice in, to find pleasure, happiness and
satisfaction. Instead of finding happiness in the world and
the activities of the world, he finds it in the word of God.
The truth of God is not offensive or distasteful to him as the
Psalmist writes Psalm 19:7, 10Psalm 19:7, 10 “The Law of the Lord is perfect…
more to be desired than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter
also than honey and the honeycomb. But his delight is only in
the Law of The Lord; and in His Law he meditates day and
night” The one who thinks about and meditates on the Law
of the Lord is also the one who is governed by the Lord and
His word. The Hebrew word law (tôrâh) means instruction,
precept, command. It was originally applied specifically to
the Pentateuch or law and then the word was used in a more
general sense, to be applied to all the books of the Old Testament.
The same principle would apply to any part of a divine
revelation; and therefore this would now also include for us
the New Testament.
And in his law - On his law, or his truth. “He does meditate.”
The meaning here is, he thinks of it; he endeavours to understand
its meaning; he has pleasure in reflecting on it. It is
not a subject which he puts out of his mind, or to which he is
indifferent, but he keeps it before his mind, and delights in it
as to desire to become more acquainted with it, and to have
its truths written on his heart.
The result is that “he brings forth fruit in its seasons, all he
does is blessed.” How is this fruit produced? John 15:16John 15:16 “You
have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and ordained you that
you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should
remain.”
What is the fruit that he brings forth? Continual praise to
the Lord. Heb 13:15Heb 13:15 “By Him, then, let us offer the sacrifice of
praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips, confessing
His name.”
The fruit of the spirit Gal 5:22-23Gal 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the
Spirit is: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith,
meekness, self-control.”
The person who knows the Lord intimately and who delights
to do His perfect will, lives and works in such a manner, that Christ is seen in them as they produce the promised
fruit and that the Father is glorified by this in all that they
say and do.

India: funding for the ongoing partnership of CLF and
AEFI, The great challenge is how to effectively fund
this task. At this stage the amount of money required
per month is rapidly approaching a combined total
of $8,000 with a present print run of around 75,000
papers, and we are then looking to increase each edition
to reach the target of 100,000 by the end of the year.
We are asking the Lord’s people to keep praying with
us as we endeavour to make a difference in this huge
population, where the percentage of Christian is around
the 2-3% mark.

AROUND THE WORLD
WITH CHALLENGE
India
Carl Carmody has just returned
from a week in India, the trip has well
and truly exceeded all our expectations. Carl and Jonathan James
met with the Destiny Communication Director, Sheldon Samuel,
and Special Projects Director for Destiny Rene Oomen. We
took time to do a review of our first edition of Destiny newspaper
which from all reports has been very well received.

With an initial print run of 50,000 papers we are now delighted
to report that we are going to increase our second print run to
75,000 papers. The response from pastors and leaders on this trip
was very encouraging, most were quite surprised that such a tool
was being produced and presented to them for evangelism. One
pastor was so encouraged he inquired if he could have 20,000
papers for outreach in his particular area. Whilst it is great to have
that sort of response, of course there is always the great difficulty
of being measured and balanced in how we provide the paper
which at this stage is free of charge to churches

Destiny Communications is taking a three pronged approach
to evangelism. Firstly with the printed word via the newspaper,
secondly the spoken word with radio programme (broadcast from
HCJB Kununurra), and thirdly an evangelistic website
under the Destiny banner.

Technology and the western influence
is growing exponentially and
during my recent visit, I saw many
young men riding motorbikes with
a laptop attached to their back.
The size of this emerging ‘urban
dweller’ population is around 300
million, so we realise that an initial
print run of 50,000 papers means
there is a mammoth task before us.
Destiny’s three-pronged approach
will allow us to reach this region
on a regular basis.

Next year, we want to begin developing
our first language edition
in Hindi and then produce a
Tamil edition. This requires a lot
more involvement in terms of the
translation process and also added
funding to continue printing as
distribution numbers increase. It is
hoped this will help us reach most
of the urban Indian population.
In India there are places where
there is considerable antagonism
towards the Christian population
and that can often include some
rather violent means. We are also
aware that when we launch out into
a venture like this the enemy never
rests, so we covet your prayers for
the safety and protection of those
that are involved.

We would also value your prayer
for Sheldon Samuel our Director
and also for Rene Ooman who is
overseeing, as one of his first jobs,
the development of a discipleship
training centre. Jonathan’s dad, GD James, once said to me ‘it is
very important that fish caught stay in the boat’ and this discipleship
training centre is one of the means by which we want to see Christians
well trained in making disciples. So pray with us as we endeavour
to see these things come to pass in the not too distant future.
For those who are conscious of the practical needs here we would
covet your prayers for sufficient finances to do the things we believe
God has called us to do as a partnership with Challenge Literature
Fellowship and Asia Evangelism Fellowship International/Destiny
Communications.
Thanks for your fellowship and oneness of heart, mind and vision
for this project.
