Prison gangster is so different now
Eric Dumisani of Groenpunt Maximum Prison

After being arrested and sentenced to prison, Eric Dumisani found out that life inside was just as dangerous as that on the outside.

He joined the prison gangs and quickly became addicted to drugs and tobacco. It was a different world and culture entirely from what he had been brought up to value.

“My whole family were traditional healers and witchdoctors, so I grew up learning to worship the dead,” Eric says. “I also believed in the existence of God but did not know how to worship Him properly and when I went to church it was just for recognition.”

Then one day he found a Christian magazine and began to read.

“In the magazine there was information about Jesus Christ the Saviour of the world,” he recalls. “I read all about Him coming to earth and dying on a cross to take the punishment I deserved. There was also one particular column that explained how someone could accept Him into their lives as their Lord and Saviour.”

Eric followed the instructions and prayed to God asking Him to forgive all his sins and to become the Lord of His life. He thanked Jesus Christ for dying for him and accepted that His death made him right with God.

“I’m so different now I am a Christian,” Eric says. “There are so many changes that God has brought into my life. I no longer associate with the prison gangsters and I have quit smoking and taking drugs.

“I thank God for His Holy Spirit who led me to Jesus Christ and who gives me liberty as John chapter 8, verse 36, says ‘who the Son sets free is free indeed!’”
